We're Here
Well, we made it to BC and are having a lovely time so far. We arrived last night around 8:30. Since then we've been shopping with my brother, visited and watched a Friends episode with my folks, slept, showered, spent time with my sister and little Sarah (who has grown a ton since the last time we saw her), shopped at my dad's store, went to the states to pick up a package, had supper with my family (including my brother-in-law) and tonight we're going to see "Meet the Fockers" with my folks and brother. I think we'll laugh a lot. I love laughing with my dad.
I will write more another day - probably not till after Christmas. I pray that Jesus will make His way to the center of your Christmas and that you will learn to make room for Him throughout the year. I am celebrating Him as the Light that has entered the darkness - my darkness, your darkness, the darkness of the world. I need Him and Love Him.
Have a blessed Christmas.

Merry Christmas
Merry Christmas everybody. If yesterday was Christmas Eve, then today is Christmas. Lance and I slept underneath the Christmas tree last night - well not really under it, more in front of it. We have a tradition (Lance especially likes traditions) that on Christmas Eve we sleep under the tree, and instead of pumping up an airmattress to sleep on we get out every single blanket in the house and sleep on top of them. We were laying on our blanket bed last night when I remembered there were two blankets in another room - Lance went and got them and we added them to our bed. It was surprisingly comfortable. This morning we opened our stockings and some of our presents from each other. Lance gave me two toques which I like very much - I'm excited to go out shopping today cause I'll get to wear one of my new toques.
We are quite busy today. Some of our close friends who live in Winnipeg are in town and we're having a party with them and our other friends tonight - but before that we're having Phil, Ingrid and their boys (the winnipeg friends) over for supper.
Tomorrow morning - really early - 4am or so - we are starting our trip out to the coast. Could you please pray for good weather for traveling, alert & wise drivers, calm kids (three kids under 5) and all around safety? Thank-you so much.
I better get to my list of things to do. Clean the kitchen first.
I hope you are all well, especially Platinum Blonde and Spandex Boy in Halifax!
Love, Aimee |

Christmas Eve
I bet you didn't know it is Christmas Eve tonight. Since Lance and I will out at the coast with my family for Christmas - and away from his family - we are celebrating tonight with his folks and sister. I am looking forward to it. I love being with them, they really are family to me.
We'll eat a big dinner, exchange gifts, laugh a lot (we always do) sing some and we'll see what else.
Lance's folks own the local Scandinavian Bakery/Cafe here in Camrose and it is super busy at Christmas time. The hotest seller is Lefse - a soft tortilla-like flatbread made from potatoes, butter and flour. People are crazy about it and its hard to keep up with orders. Today they were taking orders for tomorrow - since the Lefse the were making was to fill todays orders. Last Christmas Lance and I were helping out there but this year we haven't been. It feels a little wierd to not be involved in the busyness - I'm fine with that though.
The reason I'm telling you about their business is that I expect they'll be quite tired. I hope the celebration is still enjoyable.
I love giving and receiving gifts - another reason to look forward to tonight.
I said I'd be in charge of dessert - this is partially just to make sure that there is a sugar-free dessert for me. I'm going to make Christmas fruit pie (Apple, Cranberry, Raspberry) and Cranberry Pear tarts. I still have to make this (the crust is chilling) so I better get moving.
A special note to Dan - I'm glad you read my blog - I read yours too and love it. I will try to post more regularly.
Well, have a good evening folks, may God bless and guide you.

Wow, 8 days already
As Karen pointed out in the guestbook - it has been eight days (now more) since my last blog. I couldn't believe it either. The weeks have really been going by fast lately. They have been so full. Today marks the official start of my Christmas break.
My last task at work was designing our choir shirts for next semester. As you know I have been getting into graphic design - at least I was in the summer. When our director asked me if I would come up with a design for this year I was proud to say Yes. Last year we came up with the design together - and it was very simple, just a question mark in a square. Anyways, I took on this task and yesterday as I was explaining my frustrations about not knowing how to make things look the way I wanted them too, Lance pointed out that I probably needed to ask for help from our resident techie/graphics guy Dean. This morning I planned to get him to help me. Before heading to the school I thought I'd experiment with a couple more things... and low and behold I came up with an idea that was better than what I had been doing - and I knew how to do it. I polished off the design - in about 15minutes. I showed it to the director, she liked it - phew. Now it's been emailed to the shirt screening people and I'm done with it.... and on holidays!!!
What do holidays look like. Well so far I've had lunch with my good friend Jena. Worked in the darkroom for a couple hours. Actually made supper - it's been awhile, lately it's been last minute scrambling. Quiche tonight - very good if I do say so myself. Sat by our Christmas tree, listening to music and reading an advent devotion. Snuggled with my lovely husband. And now I'm catching up on blogging.
This morning I finished a Christmas present for one of my family members (some of whom read this so I can't say who). I am very happy with it and look forward to giving it.

I got interupted from this blog and couldn't post it yesterday (Friday), so I'll post it now.
Hope you are all well.

Tiny Blog
Intense week at work. The interns (7) are at CLBI this week taking a class all together. Since I am the internship director my workload has increased a lot. Yesterday and today a met individually with each intern at a local coffeeshop. I am worn out from all these meetings. I also met with a student interested in interning and two girls (separately) who just needed to talk. This is already a busy week - the students leave tomorrow and there have been a number of special "Christmas" events.
Lance is out renting a movie for us... It's 10:15 now and I don't think I'll be able to make it through a movie. The school Christmas banquet was tonight (draining for an already worn out semi-introvert like myself) and I think we are treating today as if it were friday - we still have to work tomorrow. And then there's the staff dinner and baking/food exchange tomorrow night.
Tonight before the banquet I was laying on the couch exhausted as Lance put together the powerpoint presentation of Chrismas carols for singing around the Christmas tree (a tradition after the banquet). He was asking me to list off Christmas carols - occasionally I'd just break into song. Particularly if I thought the song wasn't suitable for group singing. I, from my horizontal position, gave a rousing, operatic, rendition of O Holy Night. Lance was laughing and trying to get me to stop, motioning that people could hear me. In my overtired state I didn't care but just kept singing and laughing too. I skipped some parts but was sure to do the ending with the especially high and loud "Oh night DIVINE, oh night when Christ was
Born!!!!" Lance didn't include this as one of the carols to be sung around the tree - it's too high for group singing and is really more for soloists. We got to the banquet and saw it printed in the program as one of the songs before the devotional. I would never choose that one. Oh well. People (especially some of the guy students) had fun belting it out.
Well I better go.
Hope you are well.

My Dear Husband
If you haven't visited the guestbook recently, I suggest you take a quick look. My husband left me a lovely message, not realizing anyone can read it. I, like Katelyn, find this quite amusing. I thought I'd make Lance the theme of this blog.
Lance and I met in 1997. I was 17, he was 20. We worked at a summer camp together for two summers and wrote letters inbetween summers. In the fall of 1998 we went to Bible school together (CLBI). It was there that we started dating...and also where we broke up twice. :( We started dating again (though we were very good friends in the inbetween time) in August 2000. Lance proposed on Dec. 14, 2001 and we were married on May 11, 2002.
Lance is very supportive of me. Especially encouraging me to develop my artistic gifts.
Lance really likes to buy me gifts - the spending limit we put on Christmas gifts will be hard for him.
Lance likes how I look (quite a bit actually)
Lance is an excellent musician. He recorded a CD two summers ago - his songs are very thoughtfully written (alt-country, folk-rock, singer/songwriter genre)
Lance helps me realign my ways of thinking if I'm getting irrational and blowing things out of proportion
Lance is very funny - witty, goofy, a great actor (he makes me laugh a lot)
Lance helps point me to God
Lance loves kids and will be an excellent dad
Lance is home now...he doesn't know I'm blogging about him.
Lance is very handsome (I think, and know others who share my opinion, that he looks a little like Leonardo DiCaprio - only better)
Lance is very artistic (visual arts)
Lance absolutely loves music. He discovered a band yesterday - a very exciting moment
Okay, that's all for now about Lance. Pretty soon we're going out with friends to cut down a Christmas tree. I hope to get to try out a camera someone gave to me. I need to run downtown to buy some batteries.
It's snowing here - I am glad - it should be snowy when we get our tree. :)
I hope you are well and that the Holy Spirit is preparing your hearts for the celebration of Jesus' arrival in our dark world.
