Up and Down
Hello faithful readers.
What a couple of days I've been having. Where to start. Well, first of all this blog has to be quick.
Most of today has been spent discussing Lance's upcoming CD project (recording is scheduled to start on Tuesday). There have been some exciting changes about location and quality of the album, as well as disheartening discoveries about the financial cost -- and the gap between our resources and that cost. We have a lot to think and pray about. Currently it looks like we will be doing fundraising (asking for loans), I will be working for my dad this summer, and perhaps we will be visiting the Royal Bank to see what they can do for us. It has been a big day -- the question was raised whether or not to even do a CD this summer. That was a hard question to ask. Making music is like breathing for Lance - it just comes out of him. What he has to say is so important -- truth. We've now decided that we will make the CD this summer, but this is really a risk in many ways. We are going to be learning more about trusting God with our whole hearts. Please pray for us. Lance is at a rehearsal tonight for the CD, I'm praying that it will be encouraging.
So it's now 4:30ish and I haven't even begun working on my internship director work that I had hoped to finish up today. Yesterday it worked really well to work in hour long chunks. Time goes by faster if you are really focussed and working towards a goal -- you also get a lot more work done that my usual style (flit from this project to that project, have a snack, see what Lance is up to, chat with mom, check email, read the blogs...) So after this blog I will be a super focussed and diligent manual reviser (which is the work I'm needing to finish)
My weekend was wonderful. My whole extended family on my dad's side went to Naramata (near Penticton) and stayed in cabins there. We enjoyed visiting, swimming (Lance pulled me in -- fully clothed -- with the help of my brother Steven and my brother-in-law Andy, while my sister-in-law Caroline tried her best to help), playing baseball (most of us only play once a year), going to the drag races (most of the guys), enjoying pedicures (most of the girls, eating meals together, going for walks, playing with little Sarah. It was great. Lance and I shared a cabin with Andy, Cara and Sarah. It was good to be around them. I enjoy Sarah so much. I like being an auntie.
I'm feeling that it is time to go. Two last things: I have not forgotten about the contest I mentioned earlier, I will get to posting the photo. Also, you can look forward to my next blog where I will share with you the Klassen (my old last name) family freeway adventure (this story includes a freeway, a minivan filled with 7 people, a stuffed teddy bear and a malfunctioning roofrack). The suspense is almost killing you, I know. :)
That's all for now.
I hope you guys are doing well. Thanks for reading.

Should not be blogging
Okay, I'm going to try and make this the world's fastest blog. I'm needing to get a lot of work done this week -- for my CLBI job. So far I haven't been that productive. But I really wanted to blog. So here we go.
I am announcing my first contest. When I have time, maybe tonight I will be posting a picture, my first photo -- this will be a part of the contest. Readers will get to title the photo and try to figure out what is going on. There will be points for creativity and accuracy. Two prizes will be awarded. Anyways I really wanted to tell you that.
Also, I think I have discovered the root of my headaches. ITS MY HAIR. Now, I used to think I had thick hair but have since been told it wasn't, but now I'm sure it's thick. I had been just starting to wear pony tails a lot - cause my hair is getting long - and I was really liking to wear them kind of high. I just started wearing this style last week -- the same week I was getting my worst headaches ever. One morning I was reading and put my hair into a high pony tail... I immediately started getting a headache. I took it out and felt better. So now I have resigned myself to being a nape of the neck pony tail girl. It's worth it.
Okay, now back to work. Hope today is going well for you.

Get Away
Hi guys. I'm in BC now. Arrived one week ago. I can't believe it's only been a week - time has gone quickly and yet it seems like we've been here longer.
The wedding on Friday was beautiful and somewhat quirky - there was some tension between the minister and the bride about the order of the service - they argued while the audience laughed akwardly under their breaths. It was a very happy time - we've been friends with the groom for years and have been praying for a good wife for him - He found Elizabeth and she is perfect for him!
Saturday - as Platinum Blonde readers will know - Melanie and I spent the day together on Bowen Island. What a delightful day. So good to see Melanie again. We laughed, hiked, took photos, had picnics, took a ferry, enjoyed watching fuzzy geese, talked and talked. Excellent day. At one point Melanie turned to me and said she didn't know when the last ferry left the island. It was 5pm ish and we wondered if we were going to miss it. The idea of being stranded together for the night didn't look bad at all -- adventurous! In fact, we were a little disappointed to find out that the ferry runs until 10pm. I got home at 11pm and had a much needed sleep.
Sunday we went to my Grandparents (Klassens) place to celebrate mother's day. It was so good to see some of my family. Including my cousin Erin who is now a faithful reader. Speaking of Erin, when we talked she suggested I post recipes on my blog. So Erin, here's a dessert to try:
Fruit Cobbler (adapted from "Essie's Cobbler" -- More with Less Cookbook)
350F
Mix together:
2 cups Whole Wheat Flour 4 tsp. baking powder 1/4 tsp. salt 1 tsp. cinnamon 1/4 cup powdered milk (optional)
Add:
1/2 cup soft butter/margerine
Mix in:
1 1/4 cup juice (I used unsweetened pineapple, apple works good too)
Spread batter into a greased 9x13 pan.
Top with:
2 cups (or more) chopped fruit (I used raspberries and apricots) -canned, fresh or frozen work fine
Pour over:
2 cups fruit juice (I used pineapple) -this looks funny but turns out good
Bake for 45-50 min.
Serve with cream poured over, or with ice cream or with whipped cream.
I also enjoy this plain with cheese alongside.
I think this blog is getting long and I haven't even told you about our anniversary getaway. Okay, here's the quick version. We stayed for three nights at my Auntie Laurie and Uncle Merv's (Erin's folks) cabin in Hemlock (about 50 min away). It was such a blessing to get to stay there. The scenery is beautiful - so green, and peaceful. We relaxed so much. We hadn't been away together for three nights since our honeymoon. Extended time together was really good, and needed. I was hoping to see some bears but didn't see any. Did enjoy a couple nice walks and beautiful wild flowers - foxglove, lupine and columbine. It is hard to come back to the busy world after being so relaxed - I'm sure I'll get back into routine.
I've been having way more headaches than usual - maybe I should go have a nap.
More later.
bye.

Gorgeous Young Archivists
Perhaps I've intrigued you with the title?
I just got home from Pete and Jenna's house. I stopped by their place to say hello, return some CDs, and give them tomatoes (ah details). Interesting (or not so) fact: I despise the taste of raw tomatoes. Anyways I had called to see what they were up to, thinking I'd stop by and see them. They had their friends Tim and Tamara over and were going to watch National Treasure. Hearing this, and knowing I've been stressing about tying up details before I leave for BC on Friday morning, I said I'd just stop by quick and not watch the show. Also, I had a strong hunch that I wouldn't like the movie at all. Turns out, after going to Staples (I love office supplies) and Mark's Workwearhouse (where I got a cute half price shirt - they sucked me in by their sidewalk racks boasting 50% off) I stopped at Jensen's and ended up watching the whole movie. Predictable. Run of the mill acting. A few funny lines (mostly funny because I wanted to feel good about my decision to spend two hours watching the movie -- so I laughed easy). The best part of the movie -- which relates to the title, is that it revolves around the Declaration of Indepence - which is housed in the US's national archives -- which in this movie are run by young, beautiful, blonde Dr. Abigail Chase. So.... who did I fondly think of?
Platinum Blonde of Course!!
So despite the poor quality of the movie I was reminded of Melanie - a saving factor. Unfortunately the archivist in the movie didn't impress me with her wit or acting skills and she ends up with Nicolas Cage who - though the "hero" - I didn't find that appealing. Anyways, those things didn't remind me of Melanie.
Moving on. I drove Lance to the airport tonight. He left tonight so that he could be apart of the pre-wedding activities of our friends Ryan and Elizabeth who are getting married on Friday. I will join Lance on the coast on Friday. We then plan to stay in BC for pretty much all of May, June and July.
Confession: I ate cake tonight. It started out as a sliver... fresh strawberry apple cobbler...but if you add up all my slivers you'd have a very generous slice. It's like once I taste sugar I can't stop eating it. I've read that hypoglycemics crave sugar and never really thought I did - but once I have a bit I sure do! Even as I was contemplating having the first sliver I thought, "Aimee you have a lot to do tomorrow and can't afford to feel bad, you shouldn't eat this cake" -- and I still ate it. I pray God will spare me the natural consequences of my poor decision.
I think I'll do some dishes and head to bed.
It was nice to be out this evening and connect with friends - even if the movie was lame (I can't even call it a disappointment since I knew it would be just like it was).
Okay. That's all for now.
