At the Odegard household we are currently enjoying the following:
The Camrose Public Library kids section -- just went there for the first time this week. Came home with a bunch of board books and a CD.
"There's a Wocket in My Pocket" by Dr Seuss -- very silly rhymes. Was talking to Celia's mom the other day and she mentioned a family who didn't allow their kids to have Dr Seuss books because they were too silly. She said they had tonnes of them around their house. I commented that her 5 kids seemed to turned out just fine, all that sillyness didn't hamper their intelligence -- I think they all have more than one post secondary degree! (library)
"Pajama Time" by Sandra Boynton -- serious sillyness. Both Lance and I laughed right out loud when I animatedly read this one to the kids for the first time. (library)
"Singable Songs for the Very Young" by Raffi -- another great library find. Elijah and Eva are sure loving music lately and dance a lot (Eva was super cute at church on Sunday doing her squat dance and waving her arms as her Papa led a country version of a hymn). Lance and I remember all these songs from our childhood. Raffi's voice is so friendly and warm. And I found out that David Amram - who one of the peanut butter sandwiches is for -- is a real person! Who knew? He's a New York musician. It pays to read the liner notes.
"Creative Confident Children" by Maxine Hancock -- Lance gave me this one for my birthday and it is fantastic. I feel like I could be friends with the author (who was one of Lance's instructors at Regent) Here's an excerpt from a review:

Photography -- I got to take some photos of my sunflowers today and am very pleased with how they turned out. The kids were good sports as they sat eating lunch and watching me. They'd let me know when they needed more, I scamper up the stairs, fill their trays and then head back to crouching under the flowers to get the perfect shot.
Strawberries from our garden -- The kids and I have been enjoying any berries that the birds don't get. We've also got to taste a few raspberries too. Any bird warring suggestions?
Friends -- have gotten to talk with friends on the phone recently and reconnect, it is so good and needed. Also enjoyed a great bbq with friends after church on Sunday.
Sunshine -- usually I slather on sunscreen but this summer I've been skipping out, I like my tan and freckles but just stopped in at Running Wildly's blog and was reminded of the importance of sunscreen so maybe I'll go back to my old white ways.
Eva -- she is as expressive as always making us laugh and smile many times a day. She's walking like a pro and toddles all over looking like such a big girl. She is learning words like crazy and trying new sounds all the time.
Elijah -- Has so much joy. He says his words with tonnes of delight, just looking into our eyes as if to say, "Did you hear me, did you hear me?!!?" He is a snuggler and often leans in to Lance or I to get a little snuggle. He loves playing on the couch with Papa - crawling around like a wild man.
Cupboards -- Eva and Elijah love exploring my cupboards. This has resulted in the ones which are unlockable to be reorganized and only filled with kid safe thing. As I type Eva is walking around with the bowl to my food processor - the blades have long since been relocated.
Auntie Jane -- Jane has been back from Norway for almost a month. We - all of us -- have really enjoyed having her back. The kids just love her. We've had her over a couple times for supper lately. Good times were had by all.
Brocolli -- well the kids have been enjoying this
Weeding and Deadheading -- never enjoyed these much before but now they are a treat
Dark Chocolate -- I discovered that I can eat moderate amounts of dark chocolate -- like 70% cocoa -- and have no hypoglycemic symptoms! hooray! I just love eating "normal" chocolate.
Well the kids are napping and I think I'll try to catch a nap too.
If you think of it you can pray for us. We're trying a new routine at night to try to help the kids sleep better, we're also navigating the waters of moving from two to one nap a day.
