Diaper Dilemma
As a rule - with the occasional exception - Eva Grace removes her clothes and diaper each nap and bedtime. Tonight I went in to check on her (after a while of her chattering we go in to check for two things, clothing removal or poopy diaper, if we don't remedy either situation she will go on talking forever, well, we haven't let her go forever, but over an hour of happy talking seems like a bit long, and usually when we check at that point we discover one of the previously mentioned situations)

back to tonight.

I went in to check on her and found her completely naked, having removed her sleep suit, jammies, diaper and the crib sheet, tossing everything overboard. She was standing naked in a puddle of pee. As soon as I opened the door she said, "I need a baff, peed". This has happened a couple times previously and resulted in an immediate bath, but it wasn't pee that made me hold my breath and rush her to the tub. So tonight the cleanup was relatively easy - I didn't even have to wash the sheets since she'd stripped them prior to peeing.

So I redressed her, redid bedtime routine and left. More talking. 20 minutes later check again. Sheets and blankets still intact. "No diaper" she says to me. Yes, I can see that. Naked little girl just laying there talking. I try to redress her, she says, "No diaper, just jammies". No way little lady. But I can see her train of thought...

I have been forced in beginning potty training. I had no intention of starting yet, but my persistent little girl will have it no other way - and I guess that's a good thing. Not only does she take her diaper off in her crib, but constantly throughout the day. So today I decided to go for it. She just wore pants - we've got to get some panties asap. Peed twice in them, but simultaneously told me she needed to use the potty so I think she's got the idea. So tonight she was hoping for just jammies...

So any advice folks? On keeping the diaper/clothes on. And on toilet training? My current plan is just to put her in panties and encourage her to tell me when she needs to use the potty - has that worked for you?

She's still talking. I better go check on my little nudist.

Hope you are well and that your children are clothed and sleeping and that atleast YOU are laughing about the fact that my daughter is not sleeping and probably naked again.

Aimee (who is laughing a little bit, but wishing Lance was home this evening to do some of the redressing...)

all I can say is if she is ready go for it!!
I think they need to know you have confidence in them.
I let Emma go straight into underwear. We went pee every hour or so..depending on how much she drank. Lots of excitement!
(I used the little $4 potty seat that fits over the toilet).
I put her in panties over night when she was waking up dry. But, before that, she was in pull ups. ones that she liked.
Emma was 18 months, fully potty trained in 3 days. By the time she was two, she was in panties at night.
Sounds like you have a pretty smart kid on your hands...don't think it will be a problem! ;)

How great is that. I also used the potty seat on the toilet and Eva was happy with that. She peed through lots of underwear for a couple of days then really got the hang of it. SO GREAT when it's finished. I also picked up a fold up potty seat for when we were on the go - happens alot with us - since her rear end was so tiny and she loved to touch public seats. Good luck.

If she's ready go for it. My advice would be to avoid pull-ups especially during the day. They hampered progress with my first two. If you need something at night try and keep the diaper (duct tape works great to keep it on) or cloth training pants. Once she's staying dry during the day I'd let her wear panties to bed and see how she does. It might take a few nights for her to get it but once she does it'll be worth it. During the day let her wear a dress or long T-shirt with nothing underneath. She'll feel it when she needs to go sooner. I also used a timer and brought them every hour or more if they had more to drink.

Hope all goes well and quickly!

    Hi Aimee,
I don't know if you have done any shopping at Baby Love in Camrose, but they have great cloth training pants that are water proof on the outside like their diapers....they work really well for night (if they stay on!) because usually the sheets don't have to be changed too....they even have thicker ones for night if you need it....

wow - she sure doesn't beat around the bush! i'm impressed that she can get all that stuff off and her crib blanket.
i admit, i'm having a little chuckle at the situation, but at the same time, sympathize with the challenge of your current situation.
i hope potty training goes well (we have not started yet...in a month or so, is the plan - Taeya just turned 2 a couple weeks ago).

How thoughtful of her to make the decision for you! I don't really have much potty training advice, but one thing that I remember being really helpful was to teach Max to feel the pee and poo coming. When he was on the pot peeing, we talked about what it felt like. He quickly learned to recognize the feeling and we would 'runnnnn to the potty'.

I have never commented on your blog (sorry!) but I have advice so today's the day!
My daughter was a little stripper too and I used to put her sleeper on inside out. It's tricky to do up, but it worked like a charm! Especially the one with the little button flap at the top that covers the zipper. At one point I evenput the sleeper on inside out AND backwards! I am happy to say she outgrew that stage and she is a happy and healthy 11 year old now! Have fun potty training!

haha...have you thought about getting her those training panties? I think they're called: Pull-ups...They look like underwear but are peeable. That might help and make her feel more grown up. Who knows she may even be more encouraged to wear them if she saw you and Lance wearing them too...Do they make ones in the "Depends" brand? :)

Ellie always did that and it was the most angering thing ever. even in footed pajamas she would slip herself out of the diaper and it would be in one pantleg. We finally got her to stop doing that and it still took a year to potty train her. no advice from me. Just love and understanding!!
