Please pray |
Tomorrow (Friday) Elijah has surgery. We have to be in Edmonton at 6:30am and I think the surgery is at 8:30. It is a simple procedure correcting a small and relatively common abnormality. It will be a day surgery. In sensitivity to my son I'm not going to post what the surgery is on the world wide web. I can imagine his embarrassment and outrage when he's 15, "Mom, I can't believe you wrote about that on your blog and now the whole world knows private details about my body!!!!" I'm posting so you can pray. He will be put under for the surgery so that is always a little worrisome. Also for a speedy recovery. I am praying that he won't be terrified during the time when he has to leave me/Lance and when he get's put under.
Thanks in advance.

Aimee,
I assume you are taking him to the Stollery right? I work there so I can tell you he will be in the best hands possible. Most likely, you and Lance will be able to be with him while they are putting him under if that is what you want to do, be sure to ask. If you have any questions about how things are going to be happening, feel free to email me.
With love, Ange & Becca

Well I pray that the surgery went ok! I'm sure it did!!! It's the recovery that might take awhile, but once he's healed I'm SURE HE WILL be so grateful for you for getting this done for him!

Hi Amy. Our daughter Corrina just had surgery (she's deaf, but had a cochlear implant and hears now). It was a little worrisome, but children's hospitals are so family centered. All our fears were eased by the nurses and doctors. Corrina went into the OR in a wagon, with her teddy and played with the gas mask until she fell asleep. In recovery we found that (although the surgery wasn't even near her throat) freezies and Popsicles made her very happy.. just something sugary to keep her distracted. She was very delusional when she came to and although we knew that it was comforting for us to be with her she would still cry. My prayers are with you, as a mother to another mother, because it is very hard to see your little one in pain and all bandaged up. The best with recovery for you both.

Little Elijah is on our hearts and in our prayers today. I too remember Cara and Steven having surgery when they were children - older though. Such loving parents to care for him as he recovers. And a loving FATHER who holds "little baby Elijah in his hands...the whole world in his hands".
Love, Mom
