Gardens and Fathers |
Hi folks
I wanted to share some garden photos with you.
Here is the deck bed on May 8 -- just after I'd planted the perennials in it:

Here the same bed a week ago:

Here is a volunteer sunflower sprout on May 8:

And one month later:

Bean sprout:

Viola (also a volunteer)

Daylily

Lettuce

Strawberry leaves

Embarassingly I had totally forgotten about Father's Day until I read Platinum Blonde - she and her brother are making their dad dinner. As soon as I read that I went and sheepishly wished Lance a happy Father's day. He is sick today - fluish yucky feeling - and is holed up in the den. Drinking ginger ale and watching snippets of Lord of the Rings between naps and coming out for quick visits with the me and the kids. So a few words in honor of the father of my children:
I could not wish for a better dad for Elijah and Eva. He loves them deeply. Enjoys their antics and rejoices with each new development. He is very involved. He has "Growing with your child" by his bedside and reads it periodically -- He wants to make sure we're not missing out on facilitating their development. He has spent countless hours rocking Elijah under the bathroom fan, reading stories to Eva, wrestling two crazy kids (enduring eva's fave move, planting her butt directly on his face) He is dedicated. He is fun. He is not uptight about getting everything right -- a very good balance for me. A couple photos:

And one photo of my dad and Eva. Dad is such a good grandpa. Seemingly undaunted by the fact that the kids take awhile to warm up to him. They'll be crazy about him one day, but not quite yet. This photo is from the last day of our visit. Finally Eva didn't object to dad picking her up. I love you very much dad.

Hello Aimee, thanks for the pics of the plants and the kids - the kind words about Lance and the kind words toward me. There is no feeling quite like seeing your kids having kids- seeing what you do and how you do it. God give you strength, joy and health in the days ahead. Lots of love to you, to you too , Dad

You know Aimee seeing that one picture of Eva looking up at Lance, while she was in the swing and Elijah going down the slide reminds me of you and Lance as Counsellors at camp. You are BOTH very good with kids. And I would be proud to call you my parents!! Keep up the good work~

I like you so much and just wanted to tell you. I wish we could hang out sometime... It's too bad we live in different cities.

Hey Aimee, it's been a while since we talked but I just found your blog the other day (just started my own) and I have thoroughly appreciated the few times I have checked in on it. I love your photos, and your sincere thoughts make my days that much more beautiful. God bless.
