Some random photos to start the blog

Elijah and Eva thought the kids I keep in the oven were absolutely hilarious

Eva sat like this for quite awhile, just leaning on Elijah.

Elijah's latest trick "Hallelujah"

Eva and I taking photos at the grad ceremony

Here's an excerpt from an email I sent to Cara - seemed like blog kind of stuff:

Our year end BBQ went well - it was a very full week - something almost every night. We got the Kaacks to babysit on friday and we got to go the grad banquet without kids, that was a treat. Grad was the following morning. I wore Eva on my back and was the photographer - that was fun. By the end of the ceremony and picture taking she was asleep. Elijah conked out later on Lance's lap as we ate lunch at the school - that never happens, him just falling asleep like that, in tonnes of hubub - he was pretty tired.

I have been preparing my garden for veggies. I moved the perrennials that were there (in the garden by the garage and alley) to the garden behind the deck. I love watering them and checking on their growth. Yesterday and today I found some volunteer violas growing in the soon to be veggie garden - where I hadn't weeded yet. I loved rescuing them and moving them to the perennial garden. I also have volunteer sunflowers that I am very excited about. I had one sunflower grow out of nowhere last year. Jena F said that if I left the flowerhead/stalk then more would grow the next year. And sure enough, so far I have discovered 7 tiny seedlings. When the grow a bit bigger I will move them to better spots - right now they are scattered here and there.

The kids are getting pretty mobile and often play on their own - like right now. I have to watch out though cause sometimes they'll get frustrated with each other and hit/scratch/push. Oh my. Can you teach 11 month olds that this is not allowed? We're trying. Both kids - but especially Eva - do not like to have their plans thwarted. Eva can't stand when she's not allowed to go somewhere/do something. Shrieking follows.

I am enjoying both of them very much.

I had an awesome day on Saturday. Lance watched the kids most of the day (except for when it was time to put them down for naps - he lacks the necessary equipment). I worked really hard in the garden - got probably 2/3's weeded - it is a huge job, tonnes of stubborn weeds. But it was so good to be outside and in the dirt.

-----

Last night Bernell and Linda came over for supper - we have been barbequing almost every night, ahhh summer. After supper Linda played with the kids while Bernell and I finished the weeding. Hurray! Now Lance is on a mission to get it rototilled for me (maybe talk to our friendly neighbors about borrowing their's)

Hopefully we will plant the veggies tomorrow!

I can't get over how excited I am about gardening. There is something very deep about watching new life grow from what seems like nothing or like death. I was talking with Lance yesterday and telling him my delight about the various new plants and I told him that I was surprised about how strongly I was feeling about all this. Then I said that I think it had something to do with God. He chuckled and agreed. (I had to clarify what the chuckle meant - I think it was an "of course" kind of chuckle). I feel more alive than I have for awhile. God is showing me special things he does outside.

We leave on Thursday night to head to BC for the May Long Weekend gathering with the Klassen family -- we are very excited. We plan to make it to Canmore on Thursday and then on to Naramata (near Penticton) on Friday.

Your children are absolutely beautiful! It's probably nice to have both of them together to play and distract each other nicely.

Aimee, I've enjoyed these pictures over and over again. Elijah's halleluia is incredible, and the one of the kids and the oven - so funny, Eva relaxing- leaning on her big brother- so cute. Big boy - big glass. Thanks for posting them. Dad's enjoyed them too.

    Love,
    Mom

the photos reminded me so much of when Ellie and Wesley were little. So sweet.

There is something magical and priceless in watching your children play together and discover together. The fighting though, oi, that never ends. I subscribe quite often to the "two of everything" club. One in pink and one in blue. Or Cinderella and Thomas, whatever have you. :)

Enjoy that garden. Look forward to seeing the veggies!

Oh Aimee Odegard! Your babies are beautiful and I am sure they are brilliant! Thank-you for the blessing Lance and you have been to me over the last 2 years. I miss you terribly, wished I had had more time to embrace the "babies.." Thanks for your patience with me!
