hello, anyone out there? |
Well, we FINALLY have internet at home again. Lance spent many hours on the phone with Telus trying to sort everything out. He got to the point of trying to cancel, told them this and was then informed that you cannot cancel your services without first giving them 20 days to try to get your internet connected. In the end it took more than 20 days but we are sure glad to be reconnected to the world wide web.
I started writing a blog after the tour and before Easter. I never finished it, but I'll post it anyways and then get on to fresher news:
Well, you’ll be pleased to know that internet is on the way. Soon but not yet.
The trip was excellent! There were some difficult moments – kids strapped in carseats during 5 hour drives, not very breastfeeding friendly, we made things work, but I won’t go into the details here. I told Bonnie and she thought I should tell Camrose’s La Leche League Leader – thought she’d get a kick out of it.
Highs from the trip – walking across the river valley on the skytrail bridge in Outlook, seeing daffodils and crocuses in Lethbridge, getting a haircut, having Elijah fall asleep in the Ergo Carrier during one of the shows – very cozy, getting to hang out with students – I didn’t know how much I actually missed being so much a part of CLBI student life, watching the students pour so much energy and heart into each show – wow, seeing so many friends and lots of family, having a quick visit with my folks…
We are glad to be back. We are looking forward to getting back to “normal” (is there really such a thing?) life. Lance led the music for the city wide Good Friday service today, and was busy with rehearsals this week for that. So now he can finally relax.
Can’t believe how Easter snuck up on me this year. I had intended to read all four gospels and “The Jesus I Never Knew” (Phillip Yancey), during Lent as preparation for Easter. I got through the book – well, I’m saving the resurrection chapter for after Easter, and through most of Matthew and Mark. I’ve been reading them in the International Children’s Version. For some reason I’m really enjoying the simplicity of the wording and how there are asterisks by things that might need explaining with notes at the bottom of the page. I have also really liked the Yancey book – I will read it again. It is a good fresh look at Jesus, helps me to see him more as real – really human, really God. That he was born into a time and culture. One thing that really stood out for me was when Yancey wrote about Jesus’ restraint. So many times he could’ve used his power to prove himself yet chose to allow for free will and not make people believe.

Okay now back to today.
The weather has been lovely the past while - with the exception of a few snow days - yes, snow in April and May. That's Alberta for you.
Anyways I have been gardening and just loving it. The garden I intend to grow vegetables in is full of weeds and perrennials. I've moved the perennials to the bed behind my deck and am excited to check their growth daily. I still need to deal with the weeds, and then get the soil ready for seeds. I've never had my own garden (well for a couple years when I was younger each of us kids had our own raised bed to grow veggies and flowers in - we weren't very dilligent so didn't have much success. This was where I discovered Zinnias - I couldn't believe we had grown them in our garden. I bought Zinnia seeds this year and am excited to see if they're as incredible as I remember them) Bernell (Lance's dad) used to own a greenhouse business and knows all about gardening -- this is good. He says vegetables have to be in between the 15 and 20 of may. That means this next week will be a busy one. I often garden with Eva on my back -- this is usually when Elijah has gone to sleep for a nap, but Eva is resisting. After a little gardening she falls fast asleep -- we then come in, I lay her down and we all nap.
Well speaking of napping, it is soon naptime as I can tell by the fussing. I will post more later, including pictures.
It's good to be back.
Aimee
ps. tomorrow is Lance and my 5 year anniversary. wow. we plan to celebrate when we're in BC because as Lance pointed out there are more fun things to do there. Neither set of Grandparents are up to having a sleepover with babies who don't sleep through the night (which is totally understandable). So we won't be going on an overnight getaway but will hopefully find some daytime adventures. okay better go.
okay two pic, about a month old:

sometimes he doesn't mind |

Ever the optimist - I'm here :) Welcome back to the WWW. I've been missing your presence in the blogging world - the real world too - but not for long. Eva and Elijah look great. It's hard to crawl when your sister is using your bum to push off from isn't it Elijah?
Love you all, Mom, Grandma Kathy

Well hello there! I can't believe the wigglers are almost a YEAR old! And you garden with Eva on your back?! Now *that* is dedication & determination. I cheated and planted my vegetables already -- but maybe the rules are different in BC?
Glad to have you back in the land of the blog. This dedicated reader has still been checking regularly!
