Some things you may or may not know... |
Our family at a lunch stop in Hinton
We have been having adventures.
We were in BC for around 10 days - first we enjoyed the May long weekend with my extended family. This is an incredible tradition that everyone looks forward to. We had to miss last year's since I was very pregnant and travelling at that stage in the game wasn't a good idea. It was wonderful to see everyone. I have an incredible family. I grew up thinking that having such a loving, faithfilled, fun, hardworking, supportive, connected family was normal. I have since found out that this is a rare treasure. I am very blessed. We stayed in cabins at a resort in Naramata - near Penticton. Some highlights of the weekend - taking the kids swimming for the first time - they loved it. Especially Elijah. After we got out he was reaching and leaning to go back in so he and Lance went in for another dip. The Sunday morning family church service was special as usual, hearing different family members sharing from their hearts, singing together. The family baseball game was also a highlight. Probably the top highlight was watching Eva and Elijah interact with Oma and Opa (my grandparents). Grandpa and Grandma have many great grandchildren already, but I could tell by how they played with and spoke to Elijah and Eva that they treasure each new family member and love them deeply.
After the weekend we went home to mom and dad's. Lance took a class at Regent in Vancouver. He has been chipping away at his Masters degree. He loved being back in the school environment.
We celebrated my birthday (the 28th) and Eva and Elijah's birthday (June 6) while we were in BC. We will celebrate the twins' real birthday here next week.
We got to visit with Grandpa and Grandma Wellunscheg twice. They really enjoy seeing Eva and Elijah.
Lance and I had our fifth anniversary date while we were out in BC. Mom and dad babysat for 8 hours!!! I haven't been a part from the babies for that long ever - not even at night! I wondered if it would be hard for me to be a way that long... nope, not a problem at all. I hardly thought about them. I knew they were in good hands. I thouroughly enjoyed the afternoon/evening with Lance. We enjoyed dinner at Browns Social House on 4th in Vancouver - I had an absolutely incredible thai noodle salad, complete with avocado and mango, Lance loved his coconut curry dish. The we shopped for sunglasses for me. Lance says the ones we got are stylish but don't have attitude, and that this is a good thing. Then we went to a Regent public lecture. Yes you read that right. We went to a lecture to celebrate our anniversary. The lecture was by Marva Dawn - we took a class from her a couple years ago. Anyways when Lance mentioned she was going to speak I knew we just had to go as part of our date. It was really good to listen to an intellectually stimulating, humorous and challenging talk. It was like a little trip into a world that I'm not really a part of right now. All in all an excellent evening.
I need to get to bed. I have many more things I want to write but have been staying up too late lately.
Exciting garden update to come.
Hope you are well.
Aimee
ps. if you are in the area tomorrow you should come by mainstreet camrose. it's jaywalkers jamboree (a street festival) and Lance is playing a little show at 5pm on a stage near Merchants coffeeshop. Hope to see you there! |
