Sorry no candy |
Today I asked Lance if he thought our house would get egged if I put up a sign "Sorry No Candy" on our door. He said he didn't believe in karma, but he'd done his share of egging back in the day, so it would only be fair. In keeping with fairness I've made it clear that if we get egged he gets to clean it up.
My family never was into Halloween. We usually went to church alternative events which we loved -- even the grown-ups dressed up! I have gone trick or treating once in my life -- and that was only to two or three neighbors' houses before we went off to our church thing (which was quite the let down, the Thiessen's gave out BEEF JERKY! Talk about dissappointing when you ripe into a silver foil package expecting a sweet treat and you get dried meat!). We never gave out candy at our door except one time -- we gave out mini trident bubblegum packages. One year, after switched churches, Halloween came upon us and there was no plan, our new church didn't have a "Halloween Alternative Party". So we made on happen. Right that night mom called some Bible study friends and arranged to use the church gym. We played games and had candy - mini Reese peanut butter cups. A few years ago when I lived at home (as in my parents' home) I was going to make a sign for our front door, so people didn't bother coming a knocking. Steven suggested I put a picture of Jesus on it -- oh dear, like Jesus wouldn't give out candy. I can't remember if we actually did this, I hope not. Maybe someone in my family will remember.
Well the sign has been up for 45min -- no eggs yet.
And about the hats -- thanks for all the comments. I wanted to see if anyone would comment that they think the hats are ridiculous. I thought you should know what we think of the hats: we think they are hilarious. It looks like the kids have purple afros and pink and blue head bands. This was quite the funny gift. We don't even know who it is from. Lance's aunt passed them on to Lance's folks saying that someone made them for the twins. Oh dear. I agree with Katelyn that Elijah looks handsome in purple, but that's just cause he looks handsome in anything! Perhaps you'll be pleased to know that we won't be dressing Elijah in the hat and mits -- in fact I think we'll send them on the cousin Anna. She's a fun loving girl and might enjoy being a "chuggle puff" (see Katelyn's comment). Eva actually likes feeling the texture of the hats -- super soft. Anna enjoys textures too so maybe she'll like the hat and mits atleast to hold.
Tonight I have another gift casserole in the oven -- it's been in under two hours and is bubbling and browning nicely - I think it will be a success! It smells great.
A lady from our church just stopped by with a loaf of fresh bread - what a treat.
Shots - the kids got their second set of immunizations last week. we are now past the couple days of crankiness that were a result of these. they got weighed and measured. elijah is 16lbs and eva is 14lbs 12oz. elijah is 24.5 in and eva is 25in.
well, i better go. hope you are well.

Aimee, so glad to hear an update here and there on the twins. Such beautiful children you've been blessed with.
Wanted to let you know that if you are around you and Lance are more than welcome to attend our reception in Alberta in December - it's a bit informal; all the information is at www.kortneyandjordon.com
Lots of Hugs, Kortney

I so clicked here to see a pick of the twins in matching array (biff and bart or thing one and thing two or 2 peas in a pod ect ect)only to be stummped. I love the wholesomeness you girls (Klassen's)have. The mathcing hats are awesome.

Ya I agree with you guys that the chuggle puffs are not for Elijah, I wasn't going to say it though, but yes they do look ridiculous (sorry if who ever made them is reading). On Eva, now that, I can see and understand, but Elijah ya.

very much a girly hat. But twins can pull off anything it seems so long as it sorta matches. Anna will look great in the hat though!

I would like to make it perfectly clear - we never put a picture of Jesus up with the no candy sign, although I can imagine little Steve suggesting it.
Thanks for the memories Aimee. I'm glad your dinner worked out well.
Love, Mom
