yes, we are still all alive |
Hi folks, if there are any folks out there. this will be quick, eva is waking up, elijah is wiggling around on the floor beside me, I'm eating lunch while typing.
wanted to post a couple of photos and announce that Eva and Elijah have websites -- Lance is doing some practicing cause part of his new job is web design.
I may or may not get to adding links today, so in the mean time you can cut and paste this:
http://web.mac.com/clbipics/iWeb/Elijah/Welcome%20.html
and
http://web.mac.com/clbipics/iWeb/Eva/Welcome.html

a few details:
both Eva and Elijah are smiling lots. Elijah makes lots of squealing sounds when he smiles and sometimes Eva will tilt her head and give a coy squinty eyed smile. We can't get enough of their smiles. Smiles aren't all we get -- my my can Eva Grace cry, quite the high pitched wail she has. Elijah has been having gas/burping issues for awhile now -- not as bad as in the early days, but difficult nonetheless. I took a 3 week sabbatical from dairy products, but it didn't seem to make a difference, so I'm happily eating cheese again.
I've been getting out more with the twins. Loving not being stuck in the house so much. got away just me the other day. who knew grocery shopping would be such a treat! enjoyed a starbucks tea while shopping too. Lance and I had a twinless date a couple weeks ago -- what a treat, thanks to grammy and gramps. marriage definitely takes a back seat when there are two babies taking pretty much all my energy and fulltime work and two babies taking Lance's. we plan to get into a weekly date routine, and hopefully we can get eva and elijah to go to bed earlier, leaving Lance and i with more time together. we have been enjoying some prairie sunset drives (with sleeping twins in the back), but gas isn't exactly cheap right now.
i just finished reading "christ the lord" by anne rice, a fictional account of Jesus' childhood. i really enjoyed it. rice did a lot of research so the setting is quite accurate - the rest is of course speculation, but i think she handles the mystery of all God, all man (boy) quite well.
rest. hmmm. nights have been getting better though the last two have left something to be desired. days can be tough as eva doesn't like to sleep much, and not often do she and elijah sleep at the same time. i try to catch naps, or atleast rest here and there.
movies -- should've heeded the heads up from marsha and ron about the movie broken flowers. not much reason to root for main character (bill murray) and no pay off in the ending. a flop. a much more enjoyable movie experience was the very quirky story of a young Jew's journey to the ukraine in search of family history. it is called everything is illuminated. very quirky, but i loved it. i'm out of creativity to describe, if you think you might like it check out an online review or read the box. :)
the lack of capitals in this post is brought to you by elijah odegard who decided he would like to nurse -- again. eva has been in and out of sleep for quite awhile -- thanks to the swing.
prayer -- please pray that i will depend on God for strength, energy and wisdom to live each day, and night, well. if you think of us in th evening, from 9pm-1am alberta time please pray, these tend to be our roughest hours. pray too that i would get better at asking for help. pray for lance as he is up often at night andthen works all day. he is also working super hard right now on three school publications that need to be done tommorrow as he leaves on the school canoe trip on thursday. he is also recovering from a horrible battle with the flu or food poisoning -- 6 or so hours of being violently ill - that was sunday night, he is doing a lot better now.
okay , that's all for now.
aimee
ps i do read the comments, if there were any that required a response please write them again and i will try to answer thistime. |

Aimee, I really enjoyed your blog, and I completely understand that you're busy - but I still check religiously. I loved looking at the pictures of Eva and Elijah and their webpages. I'll definitely pray for you and Lance and Eva and Elijah, and I hope Lance recovers fully quickly from his food poisoning/flu thing.
God bless.

I check your blog quite often to for new posts of you, Lance and the twins. I was up on "Rose" Country a couple of weeks ago and I thought of all of you. Don't forget that you need frequent dates with your hubby VERY important.

Eva certainly is a cute femine little thing. There is no question she is a girl babe. And Elijah also looks like a little guy, as opposed to "is that a boy or a girl?"! I get alot alot with my little one, even when she is decked out in pink! Funny!
I honestly can't IMAGINE the work you are putting into your little babies. I bump into a mom of twins from our prenatal class every now and then and she is always very friendly, bright and in love with her babies, but constantly busy, and as you know, tired. You twin mom's are super hereos! Way to go! You are taking wonderful care of two new lives and i imagine you do it with joy and hope, even through the rough times. I hope hope hope that you two are blessed with rest as fall sets in. As your babes continue to grow it will come, and the early bedtime too. I think at that age Corrina was still into bed at 10 or 11, but at about 3.5-4 months bedtime started getting earlier (first 9, then 8, now 7:30)! Have the babywhisperer ideas been helping you? I hope you find something fabulous to enjoy about your day (a delicious meal, a great walk, a good read, a nice long nap, a great kiss!)

Thanks for the update Aimee! Did you notice the post I did about my trip home from CLBI in '99? Type in the words Bible College in my search box and see it come up...I'm not sure if Lance told you about it or not but it was pretty cool about what happened. Yes, Lance is in the story too. So if the words Bible College doesn't bring it up, you can always try your hubby's name.
My question: May I add you to my links/blogroll page? I find it handy to have all the blogs I'd like to check in the same spot so I can easily go through them, so to have yours there would be great!
Your babes are looking real grown up already, so surprising. I always knew you'd make an awesome mommy. You have always been rather exciting, even at camp. Thanks for the strength you used to write this post, I'm sure it took a lot of time and effort and I appreciate it so very much. Everyone's blogs are like books to me. I just love reading the stories. Thanks again! Check ya l8er.

I loved the slideshows from your twins blogs! My favourite Elijah Pic. IMG_0450.JPG My favourite Eva Pic. How did we fit? That's really cool that you've made these blogs. I'm sure when they get older they will be so thankful for them.

Hey Aimee, it's been a long time since I left a comment here... you two sound so busy! Alex and I are praying for you both, for wisdom, for rest, for continued blessing!
I am excited to hear about Anne Rice's book, it's been on my list to check out for over six months now! Worth reading hmmmm? One book I've just been enlightened to is entitled "Chasing Francis" by Ian Morgan Cron. Supposed to be edgy and interesting. Considering Lance's pursuit of St. Francis' ways at times, I thought you might enjoy checking it out!
Really glad to know you're well (though tired)!!

Wow...they are SOOOO cute! I imagine you are exhausted. Will pray for strength for you all!
Thanks for the update...I know you're busy. =)

beautiful kids. i am amazed how different they look from one another. its very easy to tell what gender they are too. those are really good photos. i especially like elijah's big gummy/ tongue smile and dimple!!! sooo cute.
cool that the kids have web pages. thought i'd mention that you may want to choose a more common mac & pc compatible font for them though, as it shows up as gobbly gook on my pc. looks good on alvin's mac tho -- i can see why you chose that font.
hope you are well and can find rest, even though things are probably getting even busier with school starting! you guys are heroic parents. :)

So fun to talk to you today AND to read your post. Just wanted to add that the website works on both our laptop and the old pc - no funny stuff. I like looking again and again.
See you tomorrow.

I still check your blog everytime I check out blogs - it's wonderful to see how grown the kids are already - they grow like worms when they're babies!
You're in my prayers - all of you. Love Kortney
