Fort St John
On the third weekend in October Lance is part of the program for a gala dinner in Fort St John. The proceeds of the gala go towards a proposed addictions centre in Fort St John. Lance is responsible for selecting, arranging, rehearsing, and performing songs with a band, finding complimentary poetry readings, and finding images that correspond and would enrich the program (these would be projected on a screen) The theme that Lance is working with is from the dark into the light, blind eyes being opened. Having to do with awareness regarding those with addictions and to do with helping these people journey from darkness to light. Currently Lance is in the process of selecting songs, poetry and images. The event isn't "Christian", though there are many Christians involved in supporting the proposed centre. I thought I would see if any of you readers have suggestions of songs or poems that Lance might want to look into including in the program.

Lance's dad called tonight to let me know that they'd like to use some of their airmiles to fly me to Fort St John so I can be there for the concert. I'll look into flights tomorrow and really hope it will work out. The band Lance gets to play with is awesome (a jazz trio from the Vancouver area) and he is putting so much work into this, it will be wonderful to get to be there. We'll see what flight schedules look like.

I called Melanie tonight. I needed a friend, and just as I suspected, she was just that. It was great to hear her voice and laugh and have her care for me.

CLBI. Amanda wrote in the guest book that she knows CLBI - boy was I surprised. Here's some details about CLBI. The school we work at - the Canadian Lutheran Bible Institute - was founded in 1932. The size has fluctuated over the years and is now (for the last 3 years) at capacity - which is 70ish students. The size is kept small partly because of facilities and because of the desire for a high staff to student ratio. One of the highlights about working here is the discipleship group we have meet in our home each Wednesday night. The people on staff with us are great and we enjoy the team atmosphere. Some names (for Amanda mostly) the president of the school is Harold Rust - he was the pastor who married Lance and I. The previous president, who was there when Lance and I attended (98/99) was Norm Miller. The Kaack family, mentioned by Amanda in the guest book, used to do the job Lance and I now have. Steve Kaack is now the Director of Maintenance as well as outdoor ministry. Amanda, how do you know the Kaacks?

Way back in the beginning of Platinum Blonde Melanie asked her readers to write in with their "just so's". I had a hard time thinking of mine... But have some to share now. Mealtime: I eat a little bit of each thing on my plate till I end up with just a tiny piece of each, I ration my drink so that I also have a teeny bit let to wash down my last bites of food. Showering: After my shower (which you may recall I don't really like) I turn off the shower and the hot water so only cold water is coming from the tap, I then rinse my face with the cold water. I used to rinse my face three times everytime until I thought that maybe this routine was a little obsessive. So now I rinse once or twice. Blogging: I always proofread my blogs... but this time I am not. I am rebelling against my "need" to be "perfect" (Like a blog with no typos tricks anyone into thinking I am perfect)

Well that was a blog filled with this and that. Hope you are well.
