One hot mama
It's before noon and it is 25 degrees outside. They (whoever "they" are) think it will get to 29 today. Yesterday was a scorcher too. I'm growing out of my maternity clothes and the ones that still fit are way too warm. Today I even tried on a pair of Lance's shorts to see if they were an option. Yeah right -- did I think the zipper would actually be able to shut?

So this morning I set out on a mission -- aquire maternity clothes that will keep me cool. I returned home semi-succesfull -- one dress, which I like a lot, and a skirt that is okay ($4, so it's worth a try). Camrose has no maternity clothes store so I had to see what I'd find in the thrift store (skirt) and the kids/maternity consignment shop (dress). I had been hoping for a top but there were zero options. I checked out plus sizes too -- my problem here is that my belly is, of course, way out of proportion with the rest of my upper body - I won't get specific here. So if a shirt fits the belly then I'm just swimming in the rest of it. Looked for shorts too and found only small or huge. Hopefully the skirt and dress will help stretch my wardrobe to the end.

Speaking of stretching... they arrived. A week or two ago I discovered stretch marks. I figured they were inevitable, especially with a twin pregnancy, but since they took so long in coming I was beginning to get optimistic. Oh well. Something was bound to give.

I have a Drs appointment today so I'll give you an update on the little ones later.

House: coming along very well. All the painting is done. There's linoleum in the bathroom and laundry room. Today Lance and his dad are working on the laminate flooring. After that it's just finishing stuff -- like nailing on baseboards. I am so excited.

On Monday and Tuesday I actually got to help by sanding and priming the trim pieces from the nursery. They were all removed (to install the flooring better) so I got to sit outside and help out. It felt really good to be able to contribute to the project.

Okay I better get going. Hope you are well and not too hot. I ran into Jenna while I was on my mission -- she said it's supposed to be hotter in Camrose than Florida today. Oh boy.

ps. Here are some photos (taken with my new camera!!)

Super beautiful pictures Aimee!! I can see your freckles - very pretty. Lance's glasses frame his kind eyes nicely. And what a lovely mommy shot. All beautiful. Thanks for posting.

    Love,
    Mom

I've found that stretch marks fade to a not-too-bad silvery colour after a few years - but they are shocking when you first see them! Nice and purple - I have them on my hips, which grew really fast. Take heart though - they get better.

The pictures look beautiful (especially the one of you and your belly - I like that one the best.)

no promising comment on the stretch marks. I had three one morning and 3 million the next morning. totally ruined my swimsuit runway model plans.

most maternity styles are SHORT so dont feel too bad that you didnt find a maternity store. (twin belly gets way big last weeks) may these last couple weeks of being frustrated with nothing to wear fly by as you cook your supersized bundles.

    and BEAUTIFUL photos.
