Hello Friends
Hi guys.

Since I've last blogged a lot has happened.

Lance and I went on choir tour. It was fun and tiring. Platinum Blonde readers will know that she came to my concert in Surrey (with spandexboy). I wasn't sure if she'd be able to come so it was a lovely (read: exciting, excellent, joyous) surprise to see both Melanie and Nathan. We got to go out for coffee after with my mom too (who also loves Melanie and Nathan).

PB readers will also know that Melanie made me a care package. What a treat. Here are some of the items included in the package: Junior mint chapstick (Melanie bought me this instead of candy - since I can't have sugar. It tastes like candy and smells great) Daisy barrettes. A nail clippers, tweezers, scissors set. A baggy filled with "just in case" items (motrin, bandaids, girly things, echinacea - so I could stay healthy even if I didn't get to eat as well as I would've liked) A slinky (this cracked us up, but you never know when you will need a slinky) A book on loan from Jody - "Girl Meets God". I just finished the book - man was it good. I absolutely love memoirs. I also love learning about Jewish people and their customs and history. Well this book is a memoir about a girls journey into, and out of, Orthodox Judaism and how Jesus captured her mind. The best part about this book is that the author, Lauren Winner, is so honest about her faith struggles - so real and hopeful at the same time. She reminded me of Melanie, so that was especially nice.

Another highlight of the trip was getting to see my family. We spent two nights at my parents house and got to see my whole immediate family as well as both sets of Grandparents and even my oldest cousin and her two boys. I felt very supported having some of my extended family at my concert in Mission.

A side note about my cousin Erin. Erin is about 6 months older than Cara - which makes her two years older than me. Cara and I spent tons of time hanging out with Erin during our growing up years. We thought she was so cool. She gave us stylish hand-me-downs (I was particularly fond of a pair of bleached cut off jean shorts, which now, come to think of it, weren't really in style at all by the time I got them, but boy did I like them). She died her hair, wore bikinis, and was just all around cool. So there's some background. Anyways some of the choir members saw me talking with her and later asked if she was my sister. It was fun to have her be mistaken for a sister - it brought back feelings of "coolness" from when I was little. It was also neat to think that we share family resemblances. Her, Cara and I all have some similarities. I think some students had seen Cara there as well and said, but you do have a sister right? Cara and I look way more similar than Erin and I -- so it's pretty much guarenteed that people will know we're sisters.

It was great to see Cara and baby Sarah too. We got to have a mini-visit the morning we left. It was good to connect (quick but deep). I love my sister.

I didn't really want to leave Abbotsford. It was so good to be around my family and back in homey places. We'll be back there for much of the summer (starting in May) so I don't really have to wait long.

Well that's a bit about tour. I got back feeling like I was too old for this. I don't think I'll be in choir next year. I'd like to dedicate my time to other things.

Okay. I had better go. Today I teach my first of three drawing classes to homeschooled teenagers. I need to have a snack and then finalized my preparations. I could use some prayer for this.

This update brought us to the beginning of April and much has happened since then - you can expect more frequent blogging.

Hope you are well.
